Heavy cotton piqué. A collar with nothing glued into it, so it takes its shape from you and not from a factory. One crest on the chest. Nothing written anywhere else.

Size

In the box
The polo, folded. A card, sealed and signed by hand. That is it.

Volume I is one run. When a size goes, it goes.

Volume I · The Cloth

Piqué is a structure,
not a fabric.

Jersey is a flat sheet. Piqué is knitted into a honeycomb — thousands of small raised cells with air sitting between them and your skin. That is the whole trick, and Lacoste worked it out in 1926 because he was tired of playing in a shirt with a tie. Move across the cloth.

AirThe raised cells hold a layer of air against you. The shirt moves, the air moves with it.
CoolSweat leaves your skin instead of sitting on the surface. That is where cooling actually happens.
CleanCotton does not hold smell the way synthetics do. It comes out of the wash finished, not almost finished.
Polyester dries faster. It also stops smelling clean somewhere around the second set, and it is never better than the day you bought it. We took the other side of that trade.
The Collar

A collar that learns you.

Most collars have fusing glued inside them, so they leave the factory perfect and stay that way until the glue cracks and the whole thing goes wavy. Ours is knitted rib with nothing in it. It has no shape yet. It takes one from your neck, over about a year. Pull the slider.

The Burgundy Polo

Fifty-seven foxes,
and why.

There is a fox on the grounds. Over one season she took fifty-seven things off us — a shoe, a driving glove, the cork out of a good bottle — and carried every one somewhere we never found. Bianchi wrote them down as they went. There is now one embroidered fox on the shirt for each entry. Tap one.

The real thing. Four poses, scattered across the shirt.
The Cut

Holds the chest and
lets go of the rest.

  • The shoulder carries itThe seam sits on the bone, not below it. Everything else hangs off that line.
  • Structure across the chestHeavy piqué carries its own weight here, so the shirt keeps a line instead of clinging to you.
  • Released at the waistThe body opens out from the chest down. It skims the stomach rather than reporting on it.
  • A hem that stays putStraight and even. Long enough to survive a service motion, short enough to wear out.
